Funding Opportunities in Data Science: Build Your Career in Data Science

Build Your Career in Data Science

It is an inevitable fact that 90 percent of data in the world has been created in the last two years – a great example of how data keeps growing consistently.

Data and data science is now being adopted by almost every enterprise across the world. Among other things, data science now leads to making a breakthrough in the field of medicine, transforms the scope and depth of social science, contribute to the revolution in astronomy, fueling research in how customers behave, and how it is affecting businesses at large.

But does it worry you as to how the next generation of data scientists turns out to be?

The current generation of data scientists has been working tirelessly to satiate the accelerating demand for data-driven insights. Thus, it is alright to take a step back and ask the question about how future data scientists will turn out to be.

Ideally, the next generation of data scientists will be more engaged and evolved in solving complex problems.

This is where the World Data Science Initiative (WDSI) plays its part. WDSI aims at providing candidates with the world’s most advanced data science methodologies and tools to catch up with. The WDSI weaves these candidates into the core system, to grant initiative and layout the highest standard in data science.

WDSI is focused on nurturing near about 250,000 professionals from across different universities and technology educators covering more than 60 nations.

The opportunity at WDSI

WDSI awards subsidies for universities that cater to covering the costs involved during accreditation and procurement of an advanced teaching and learning process, the student certification, on vendor-neutral, and the standards involved in cross-platform knowledge.

It also targets near about USD 250 million in grants and subsidies to reduce the financial burden for the applicant. These subsidies and grants are directly deployed at the source-stage. Thus, it helps in reducing the cost of the content, knowledge, certification, cost of the content, and helps process the applicant during accreditation or while setting up their own Data Science Schools and Centers of Excellence.

What does the subsidy or grant cover?

The institutional grants initiative assists the applicant-institution through these subsidies in activities like:

  • Obtaining the content, process, along with the knowledge needed to establish a Data Science Center of Excellence.
  • The services related to global accreditation.

What is the prospective subsidy beneficiaries?

These are the categories of beneficiaries who are eligible for the grants for universities.

  • Private universities, institutions, and colleges recognized by the respective governments.
  • Public universities, governments, colleges, and institutions.
  • Project organizations, data science education consortia, and special purpose vehicles that are funded by an elected national government or by an elected provincial government in nations.
  • Data science education projects funded by a not-for-profit organization that is engaged in employability development as well as social upliftment through training and education.
  • Training consortia, project organizations, data science education, special purpose vehicles that are funded by charitable organizations or multilateral aid bodies.

What’s the process?

  1. The grant or subsidy that is requested gets individually assessed by a special initiative committee. This is where the status regarding approval or rejection will be decided and communicated to the applicant.
  2. The approved applications further get individually processed as a subsidy case, then the external agencies are contacted for a maximum arrangement of subsidy or financial assistance that the applicant may receive.
  3. Once the in-principle is confirmed of the grant availability by the committee, they are further requested to separately apply and wait for confirmation of their decision.
  4. Once it has been arranged and the applicant institution has been informed of the subsidy and the amount. The relevant team or the officials on the data science initiative coordinates to complete the process of warding the subsidies to the designated applicant institution.
  5. Last, but not the least, the applicant institution may further proceed to pay the reduced fees and join the initiative.
