Kickboxing is not only fun in the ring but it’s an amazing sport. There are several thousands of fans cheering you up to knock your opponent with a champion’s fighting technique.  Kickboxing is only fascinating when you have a winning technique to outperform your opponent. So, let’s look at some of the top kickboxing strategies that will make you a better fighter.

    Sparring

If you’re looking for winning strategies for your fights, then you may want to start with sparring. Yes, you read that right. Sparring. According to one of the trainers who conduct kickboxing classes in Dallas, “Sparring against a friendly opponent or alone is always effective. Even though you can go alone, having a friendly and competent opponent is always desirable.” Plus, a partner who is tactical enough to dodge you is perfect!

Sparring with a competent fighter will allow you to know your technique better. Sparring is always amazing to work on your technical capability, speed, endurance, and timing. Remember, timing is key. Your arsenal of kicks, punches, or jabs is nothing if you don’t have the timing. Good timing with punches has a powerful impact, sending your opponent down in the middle in no time.

Remember, sparring is good for practice. However, you need not push yourself through the limits. Intense sparring training is only recommended for individuals who are highly experienced and skilled ring fighters.

It’s always good to start with the basics. If you’re new to the game, you want to give a go to controlled sparring. It’s easier and safer especially when practicing with a competent partner. Controlled sparring will allow you to progress through the session, without doing any damage to your partner. So, the risk of injury is eliminated.

On the flip side, if you’re a professional combat athlete, then hard sparring with your pro colleague must be your daily dose. There’s an exhaustive list of techniques that you can master to emerge as an amazing fighter in the ring. These techniques are specifically for kickboxing professionals.

    Be a Moving Target

First, you could be a moving target. All the greats from Mohammad Ali to Connor McGregor to Khabib have mastered this technique. They move in a circle. You can circle left, and then right or either way.

Remember, your circular movement in the ring has to be controlled. More importantly, you should be focused and keep an eye on the feet of your opponent. You’re inviting an attack, and also being watchful at the same time. So, execution will require a great amount of practice.

Fake it and Charge into your Opponent

The second most effective and popular technique is faking. Smart fighters who have been able to deceive their opponent with their tactics have applied this technique. By faking your movement, you’re practically deceiving your opponent to make the wrong move. One poor footwork, and you can cut loose on your opponent.

This technique is really effective especially in a situation when you’ve had an intense session of sparring. This technique is effective to turn things around. You could also use it at the start of the game.

However, it’s always recommended to first condition your opponent with your movements then consider faking it. Remember, when the opponent reacts to your fake move, you only have a second to burst into them with fire.

Receive One, Hit Two to Five

The third most effective strategy to dominate in kickboxing games is the hit double technique. If your opponent charges towards you and gives a blow, you have to compensate immediately. Important here is that you pay the debt with some interest, meaning you give them a double blow or even more.

This strategy is always fantastic to keep your opponent a step back from getting into their flow. Plus, when you respond with a collection of strikes, your opponent will think twice before exposing themselves. So, you will surely push them a step back. Also, an idea of giving a few blows in quick succession will allow you to get close to a knockout.

    Kick-Punch Technique

Another winning strategy is the kick-punch technique. It’s really effective especially when you want to surprise your opponent. If you’ve taken a punch, you must respond with a kick. It will allow you to retreat intelligently.

Plus, you’ll have more time to recover and regain balance and concentration. When you strike the kick, your opponent will go off balance, so it’s really effective. You can stop them from getting into their rhythm and reply to the punch with your own arsenal of powerful attacks.

    Punch-Kick Technique

On the flip side, if you’re kicked first, then you should launch a punch right in the top line. The reason for responding with a punch is that you’re basically taking advantage of the already exposed high-line. Remember whenever someone is attacking, they are risking their defense. However, you hardly have, if any, only a second to break through their solid defense. So, it’s important to make your opponent pay for even the smallest opportunity they give to you.

The Blitzing and Machine Gun Technique

The blitzing and machine gun technique is really popular and may be perfect for you if you’re an attacking fighter. It’s always amazing to go about your opponent aggressively. Remember, the judges are always counting attack scores, so it’s important that you’re making an impact from time to time.

Make sure your punches are followed by reckless kicks. It’s good to have no mercy for your opponent. But, remember, it’s equally important to be defensive to dodge your opponent and frustrate them.

    The Wait and Counter Technique

You may also win a lot of fights if you love to be tactical. Here’s what you do. Wait and counter. Let your opponent come to you and charge with aggression. Dodge them by taking note of their footwork carefully. Your aim should be to break their balance and don’t allow rhythm. Frustrate and exhaust them until you have the full stamina and opportunity to unleash your arsenal of powerful punches and kicks.
