Staying Healthy in the New Year:

Try to make adjustments in the New Year to stay healthier. The easiest way to do this is to try to stay active and eat right. The first step is getting out of your seat. You should find ways around the office or at home that will keep you moving, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further away from where you are going so you can walk more. This will help with circulation.

In addition to getting out of your chair, you should try to eat right. This means eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables as well as drinking water instead of sodas or other sugary drinks. Remember that the easier it is for you to make these healthier options, the more likely you will be to make them. For example, if you have healthy snacks available, like fruit or vegetables with a low-calorie dip, it will be easier for you to eat them than to go out and buy a bag of chips.

If your resolutions include fitness goals, remember that almost any activity is good. Make a goal to substitute one thing in the morning – maybe going for a walk or stretching – for sitting in front of the TV. You can also try to get more active during your day and take the stairs, park further away from where you are going so you can walk more, and join a gym if you enjoy working out.

By making small changes like these, you will be able to stay healthier in the New Year. The more active you are, the less likely you are to get sick or injured, so be sure to make at least one goal for staying healthy in the New Year.

    Ways to Cook Healthier

If you are trying to cook healthier in the new year, feel free to try any kind of cooking whether it be stovetop, slow cooker, a pressure cooker, air fryer or something else, but substitute with healthier ingredients whenever possible. This means using herbs and spices when cooking instead of salt or butter. You can also try steaming your vegetables instead of frying them or baking your food instead of sautéing it.

In addition to cooking at home, you should also pack your own lunch instead of going out to a fast food restaurant or bringing a pre-packaged sandwich from a convenience store. Making your own lunch will give you control over what ingredients go into your meal and allow you to experiment with new kinds of healthy recipes. If this is not an option for you, try to make a list of all the ingredients that go into your lunch and take it with you when you shop.

You should also remember that healthy eating is not about depriving yourself; this may actually result in gaining weight because you could end up overeating later on. Instead, aim for a lifestyle change where you eat healthier, but in moderation.
