Wireless Communication is one of the latest communicative technologies that is snowballing to invite innovations and convenience. It is a process in which voice and data are transmitted from one point to another within a distance without the need for cables and wires. The most dynamic technology has become an indispensable part of your day-to-day life. Wireless communication courses help you understand the basics of it and help you shape your future with a career in this field.

The previous communication system worked as the transmitter and received were placed at a limited distance. The transmission and reception range was fixed, and communication beyond that limit needed to be improved. But then, wireless communication innovations have made it possible to provide liberty in communication. Wireless communication systems allow you to place the transmitter and receiver anywhere within a few meters to thousands of kilometres. The perfect example of the shortest distance covered by wireless communication is a remote control for a television or air conditioner. The longest-distance wireless communication system is satellite communication. You get to learn everything about it in Wireless communication courses.

As mentioned earlier, wireless communication is a vital part of our daily lives. Different sectors, industries, and household chores require wireless communication to ease work and save time. Some examples of wireless communications are- mobile phones, GPS, infrared, radio, wi-fi, microwaves, cordless phones, Bluetooth, etc.

    Features of Wireless Connectivity

Wireless communication has evolved in the past years, which brought many advancements in the existing technologies and their features.

The distance between the transmitter and the receiver has been updated. The limitation is the transmissible distance has progressed. Now it is between a few meters to thousands of miles. Examples are remote-controlled devices and radio or satellite connections.

Wireless connectivity features have fashioned wireless internet connections like wi-fi systems, wireless home networking systems, and cordless telephones. A Wireless communication course covers all the essential features of Wireless Communication.

Other wireless connection applications are computing devices like mice, keyboards, headsets, and digital pens. Also, radio broadcasts, satellite televisions, broadcast televisions, GPS devices, and remote-controlled garage door openers are excellent examples of wireless communications.

    Types of Wireless Communication

Wireless communication has been serving the human race in many sectors of life. Different types of wireless communication are intended to serve different needs. These are-

    1.   Wireless LAN

Wireless LAN or WLAN is a radio technology transmitter that connects nodes without wired connections. Communicating over a WLAN is done using a wi-fi transmission. This is done via wireless access points known as APs, which establish a connection with endpoint devices.

    1.   Wireless Wide Area Network

Wireless Wide Area Network, or WWAN, is popularly known as mobile broadband, which uses cellular technology to establish a wireless network. You need to learn from Wireless communication courses to know the basics of these technologies.

    1.   Wireless Metropolitan Area Network

Wireless Metropolitan Area Network or WMAN is a wireless network that one can access beyond the office and home networks.

    1.   Fixed Wireless

This wireless network provides the final stretch of the internet connection to homes and businesses via airwaves instead of wire, fiber, or cable television connections.

    1.   Wireless Personal Area Network

Wireless Personal Area Network, or WPAN, is a wireless technology that spans shorter distances. An example is Bluetooth connectivity which establishes connections with Bluetooth devices.

Types of cellular networks Used in Wireless Communication

Wireless communications require different types of cellular networks to function. Several types of cellular networks are used for wireless communications. You can learn the details in Wireless communication courses.

Current technologies require modern cellular networks introduced by the generation of wireless connections that it supports. The different types of cellular networks required for wireless communications are-

    • 2G

This is the cellular technology adopted in the 90s, where the speed was limited to 50 kbps.

    • 3G

The third generation of networks, the 3G network, was introduced in 2001. It was better than the 2G networks available then. The speed was increased up to 7 Mbps.

    • 4G/LTE

4G or fourth-generation wireless and LTE came into the picture in 2009 to replace 3G connectivity. There was a strict minimum data rate imposed on 4G connectivity by the International Telecommunication Union. Now, cellular networks have to have a set speed of 100 Mbps.

    • 5G

Fifth-generation wireless communication, or 5G, is the world’s future. This is the latest generation of wireless networks where data speeds can range to 20 Gbps with low latency. These networks are predicted to be used in industrial control systems and autonomous vehicles. Wireless communication courses enable students to learn mobile technologies in depth.

    Benefits of Wireless Communication

There are multiple benefits of Wireless Communication Technology, Wireless Networking, and Wireless Systems compared to Wired Communication. The differences include cost, flexibility, ease of installation, trustworthiness, etc.

    • Cost

The cost involved in wireless communications is significantly lower than wired communications because there is no need to bear the costs of wire and cable installations and other related infrastructure. Installing a wired network in a building required digging up the floor or land to place the cables, and then distributing the network of wires across the streets was not only tiring but it required time and money.

    •  Flexibility

If you take the Wireless communication courses, you will learn that wireless communication has become more popular in the modern world because of its flexibility. One can move anywhere away from the transmitter or receiver while still staying connected to the network.

    • Ease of Installation

As mentioned earlier, a wireless network’s setup and installation process is extremely arduous and consumes a lot of time. On the other hand, wireless communication requires convenient infrastructure and equipment. As there is no work with the cables, the installation process is easy and quick.

    • Trustworthiness

Wireless communication courses will teach you that it doesn’t require wires and cables. Therefore, there is no way a network failure could happen because cables are damaged because of environmental disasters or metallic conductors are disrupted.

    • Recovery from Disasters

A wired network is affected by a fire, flood, or other natural disaster. In wireless communication, the chances of networks getting disrupted are very low.

    Drawbacks of Wireless Communication

Although wireless networks are a hundred times better than wired networks and are being adopted by many sectors, it has some shortcomings. Some of them are-

    • Security

One of the significant disadvantages of wireless communications is data security. Wireless communications and networking use an open transmission of data. Thus, security can be compromised. There can be a theft of confidential information. If you use wireless communication, you have to live with that threat. Wireless communication courses train you to understand its benefits and drawbacks.

    •  Interference

As wireless communication systems openly transmit the signals and use radio signals to work, there might be incidences where the signals can interfere among themselves. In this case, the interference will hamper networking and communication. For example, Bluetooth and wi-fi use the 2.4GHz frequency to communicate. When both of these are active simultaneously, there might be interference.

    •  Health Issues

Wireless communications are a kind of radiation that is spread in the form of frequency. When someone is continuously exposed to such radiation, it might increase Continuous exposure to any radiation can be hazardous. Even though the levels of RF energy that can cause the damage are not accurately established, it is advised to avoid RF radiation to the maximum. Wireless communication courses are available online to teach you their basics, including the benefits and drawbacks.

    Types of Wireless Communication

If you closely observe, you will find many applications of Wireless Communication around you that are not only choices but are necessities. Some of the types of wireless communications are-

    Satellite Communication

Satellite Communication is a type of Wireless Communication that is extremely important for every sector. It is a network that serves people and organizations all over the world. Telecommunication, navigation, internet, and broadcasting depend on Satellite Communication systems.

    Mobile Telephone System

One of the most common types of Wireless Communication systems is mobile phones. We cannot imagine our lives without cellular devices that are not only a means of communication anymore but have become a miniature version of a computer with features like GPS, wi-fi, Internet browsing, etc.

    Television and Radio Broadcasting

Way before the idea of cellular phone technology was conceived, radio was the only wireless communication medium. Radio broadcasting is the perfect example of a Simplex Communication System wherein the transmission is done in one direction for the users to receive the same information. Wireless communication courses can make your study paths and concepts of television and radio and how broadcasting happens using Wireless Communication systems.

    Global Positioning System (GPS)

GPS is a subsection of satellite communication designed to offer services like positioning, navigation, speed, location, etc. The entire process is done by satellites and GPS receivers.  Apart from these, other common types of Wireless Communication are Bluetooth, wi-fi, and Infrared Communication.
