How Your Brand Benefits From a Weekly Newsletter

Take a look at your email inbox. If it’s anything like most people’s, it’s a sea of unopened emails from companies you might not remember engaging with.

That’s how some consumers perceive a weekly newsletter—just another instance of junk mail they didn’t sign up for.

But when done well, sending a newsletter weekly can be an exciting opportunity. Want to engage customers with exciting brand anecdotes, new sales, and chances to ‘meet’ the faces behind the products they enjoy? That’s what a newsletter is for.

Still not convinced? Here are some great ways a newsletter helps jumpstart your business.

Use A Weekly Newsletter to Increase Web Traffic

With a good newsletter, people will open it and scan it. If they see something that catches their interest, they’ll read closely.

What’s the end goal? Getting them out of their inbox and onto your website. You can do this by linking to your latest blog posts, embedding links in cool product images, or offering a ‘read more‘ button.

    Create A Community

As a new employee, have you ever been told that “this company is a family”? While it may seem cheesy, or even untrue in the corporate world, that’s exactly what your brand should aim for with consumers—even if you’re producing something that may seem dry, like a weekly economic newsletter.

If consumers feel like they’re part of a community, they’ll be interested in what you have to say. They’ll eagerly await your product launches, leave reviews on your site, and spread the gospel through word-of-mouth.

How can you foster this sense of community? It starts with consistent messaging across all of your platforms.

An important part of building community is making customers feel like they’re part of a close-knit family. To foster this feeling, you can leverage your newsletter to offer exclusive sales, product announcements, and coupon codes that are only in the newsletter.

    Build Suspense

In an ideal world, customers are eagerly checking their inbox waiting for your email to land. How can you make that happen?

Start by limiting yourself to a principal weekly newsletter. Sending a newsletter weekly makes sure that readers aren’t overloaded. When that happens, they tend to delete your emails without even opening them.

If your content is limited, this is definitely a case where ‘less is more.’

    Develop A Consistent Brand

With the right weekly newsletter template, you can prioritize consistent branding. What’s your color palette, and what mood are you trying to evoke with your font choices and placement? What are your lighting choices?

For instance, if your brand is fun and playful, your newsletter is a chance to emphasize this. Go with bright photos and fun fonts. Weekly newsletter names are also a chance to up the fun factor, too.

    Publishing A Weekly Newsletter

A weekly newsletter might seem like a big commitment. Once you develop a template and a process, though, it can become a regular part of your content calendar.
