Stress refers to tension, which can be both emotional and physical. You get stressed when you feel exasperated, annoyed, nervous, worried, and disturbed due to workload or any other challenging situation. Stress is normal when it is in a small amount. But when stress becomes chronic, it can cause critical effects on your body.
What is chronic stress? What are its symptoms?
When your stress is not under the control or your stress levels stay high when it is not necessary, it can lead to severe issues. This is known as chronic stress.
Chronic stress has also been found in people who overeat, have decreased appetite, take drugs, and are introverts.
Here are some common signs and symptoms of stress, which include:
- Migraine
- Drowsiness
- Enervated
- Insomnia
- Weird thoughts
- Decreased or Increased appetite
- Intestinal problems
- Frequently getting sick
- Low self-confidence
- Loss of sexual needs
- Feeling hopeless
- Difficulty in focusing at work or study
- Extreme irritability.
Here are some ways to manage stress:
1) Take a nutritional diet – Eating nutritional food will increase stamina and energy in your body and boost your mood. Your meal should contain green vegetables like broccoli, spinach, lettuce and cauliflower, fruits, proteins, and whole grains. Don’t skip your meal because it can again make you feel stressed and worried.
2) Pause is necessary – What’s the whole point of running behind something or the other throughout your life while you are entirely unaware of what has this whole path has moulded you into? Even if you are growing, you need to pause from the process and observe yourself for a moment.
Observe what has led you all the way. And, of course, a pause is a must when you feel like nothing seems to be right in spite of you working with your fullest potential. Such a scenario needs a change from your monotony and focuses on the different perspectives to lead in the right way.
3) Regular exercise – Regular exercise is one of the best ways to maintain your mental stability. Doing exercises will eventually improve the blood flow in your body and make you feel energetic.
If you are a beginner, try to work out for at least 15-20 minutes a day and do activities like jogging, walking, and running. These activities will help you to release stress and make you feel even more confident about yourself.
4) Listen to music – In this generation, most teenagers prefer to listen to music while studying or when they are stressed, which is quite beneficial. Music increases blood flow and helps to release stress. Even if you feel low or in pain, music will elevate your mood and make you feel contented.
5) Meditation – Meditation promotes healing. The brain becomes fresh, sensitive, and healthy when you meditate. It also helps your brain to stay calm and relaxed. During meditation, you focus on your path and remove thoughts that lead to stress. Medication and Meditation both are very important to cure from depression
6) Share your problems – Most of the problems go away when you share them with your loved ones. Getting advice or suggestions from your loved ones will elevate your mood.
7) Talk to yourself – When you are alone in your room and feeling stressed. Just stand in front of the mirror and talk about yourself. Speak aloud what you did the whole day, why you felt guilty conscious, why you were so stressed. This method will help you to stay calm and free.
Stress has both negative and positive effects. It depends upon you that how you deal with it. If you are getting stressed unnecessarily or without any reason then it can cause you some serious problems like diabetes, headaches, obesity, depression, and anxiety.
