Employer Sponsored Visa Australia

As the name suggests, an Employer Sponsored Visa is for an employer to sponsor you to work and live in Australia permanently / temporary depending on the eligibility. Before applying you need to consider the vacancy in the specified job role you are looking for.

Subclass 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
As I mentioned earlier to get this visa you require an employer to sponsor you. Below listed are the 3 streams of Subclass 482
Short – Term Stream
This visa enables employers to hire employees when in shortage with skilled Australian Employees. With this visa you can stay for 2years and upto 4 years. You need to start your employment within 90days of visa grant. For this visa there will be conditions like you can work only for the nominated employer. If you want to extend the visa after this period, your employer has to nominate you again and you have to apply for a new visa. While on this visa you can study in Australia but without Government assistance. Your family members are also allowed to work, study and live in Australia. Also you can travel as many times to and from Australia as long as the visa is valid. If eligible you can get a Permanent Visa.
- Medium – Term Stream
This visa enables employers to hire employees when in shortage with skilled Australian Employees. With this visa you can stay for 4 years. You need to start your employment within 90days of visa grant.For this visa there will be conditions like you can work only in the job title that you are allowed to and only for the nominated employer.If you want to extend the visa after this period, your employer has to nominate you again and you have to apply for a new visa. While on this visa you can study in Australia but without Government assistance. Your family members are also allowed to work, study and live in Australia. Also you can travel as many times to and from Australia as long as the visa is valid. If eligible you can get a Permanent Visa.
- Labor Agreement Stream
This visa is for employees who are nominated by the employers who have a labor agreement. The labor agreement is between Australian Government (Commonwealth) and employers. It’s a temporary visa and you can stay upto a maximum of 4 years depending on the agreement. You need to start your employment within 90days of visa grant.For this visa there will be conditions like you can work only in the job title that you are allowed to and only for the nominated employer. If you want to extend the visa after this period, your employer has to nominate you again and you have to apply for a new visa. While on this visa you can study in Australia but without Government assistance. Also you can travel as many times to and from Australia as long as the visa is valid.
Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme
At present there is only one stream for this type of visa. Other streams are closed now. The available stream is :
- Temporary Residence Transition Stream
This allows workers who are nominated by employers in regional Australia to work and live in Australia permanently. You can study in Australia with this visa. As its permanent visa you stay indefinitely in Australia and you can travel as many times to and from Australia for 5 years. After 5 years you have to get a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to re-enter Australia. You need to start your employment within 6 months of visa grant. Also make sure you work only for your nominated employer for a minimum 2years, otherwise the visa may get cancelled.
Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme
This allows workers who are nominated by employers in regional Australia to work and live in Australia permanently. Below listed are the 3 streams of Subclass 186.
- Direct Entry Stream
This allows workers who are nominated by employers in Australia to work and live in Australia permanently. Temporary residents who do not qualify for Temporary Residence Transition Stream can go for this visa. You can study in Australia with this visa. As its permanent visa you stay indefinitely in Australia and you can travel as many times to and from Australia for 5 years. After 5 years you have to get a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to re-enter Australia. You need to start your employment within 6 months of visa grant. Also make sure you work only for your nominated employer for a minimum 2years

This allows workers to live in Australia permanently, who are currently working or work in future for employers who have a labor agreement with Australian Government. You can study in Australia with this visa. As its permanent visa you stay indefinitely in Australia and you can travel as many times to and from Australia for 5 years. - Temporary Residence Transition Stream
This allows workers who are nominated by employers in Australia to work and live in Australia permanently. You can study in Australia with this visa. As its permanent visa you stay indefinitely in Australia and you can travel as many times to and from Australia for 5 years. After 5 years you have to get a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to re-enter Australia. You need to start your employment within 6 months of visa grant. Also make sure you work only for your nominated employer for a minimum 2years.
Subclass 408 – Temporary Activity Visa
This visa is for workers who wish to do specific work in Australia on a short term ,Temporary basis. There are many streams for this type of visa which i have mentioned below.
- Religious work
- Special Program
- Invited for other social and cultural activity (Invited Participant)
- Research activities
- Entertainment Activities
- Sporting Activities
- Domestic work for executives
