You install security alarms and other security systems such as surveillance cameras, CCTVs, night vision cameras, and motion sensor alarms. Each one of them has a proper communication system with the main monitoring system. If you allow living or 24/7 monitoring to the main station, your alarm suppliers install the alarms according to those special settings. Some advanced version of these alarms has in-built smart technology with which the user can easily switch the control and directly communicate with the monitoring station when something goes wrong. But what if you get a communication failure error? Let us see what it means and how you manage it.
What Is Communication Failure Error
A communication failure means that your security alarm has tried to contact the central monitoring station in case of an emergency, but it has failed. This can be drastic if your alarm faces a com fail during times of difficulty, which is why it is mandatory to keep them maintained and upgraded. There can be many reasons why an alarm may show you a communication failure sign. When the user sends information to the monitoring station, the call drops if the receiver fails to detect any kiss-off sound. The receiver will make 10 attempts to detect the sound after which communication failure occurs. If you are facing any similar situation, do not instantly think that the alarm has stopped working. In most of the cases, users spend extra in replacing these alarms when they can easily be checked and cleared from the error. Communication fails is just a temporary loss of communication that can be resolved.
How To Deal With It
It is pretty easy to get rid of the communication failure message. It is so simple that you don’t even need to call an expert for it. Just follow the step by step procedure below and your alarm is as good as newly installed:
- Call your security alarm business company and verify the phone line voltage across both lines so that you may know where the problem lies.
- Always recheck the phone number you are adding on the control panel of the alarm when you want to communicate. You can always confirm this by typing D before the dialling. Add an outside number to communicate with you when you are offline. Your cell phone number is the best option. Your phone will automatically ring when the panel communicates through your alarm.
- Check that the reporting format and contact ID of your security alarm are compatible with the receiver’s end. If your settings are not compatible with the other side, they will ask you to change it according to their system, making communication easier.
