Rules are meant to be broken, eh? This isn’t valid when it comes to business. When rules are designed for business, they are destined to make business work better. You can’t expect your business to be successful if you don’t follow those rules. But of course, there are many workplace rules in companies that don’t sound right or don’t feel good to us at all. I’m here with those rules, actually. So if you’re starting a new business, you see if you should make such policies for your employees or not.
This is because if you were an employee yourself of a company that has these policies, then you wouldn’t want to stay in that company even for a single day.
-
A Strict and Specific Dress Code
This rule has made the lives of the employees miserable because it is strictly ordering them to wear a specific type of dress every single working day.
If the company is doing this to its employees, then forget that they will stay longer in that company. You can’t call it strictness but excess overabundance which is very dangerous for the company itself.
Professionals know exactly how to dress properly in a company. The company doesn’t have to superimpose such laws onto the employees to make their business work better.
But yes, if someone is wearing something inappropriate that will turn down the value of your company, then talk to that co-worker in a well-mannered way, separately.
-
Harsh Time-Off Rules
Time-off rules of some workspaces are extremely strict that people actually don’t want to stay even a single minute in that company. It’s better to stay at home than to go and work for that one stupid company.
Everyone can get a day off from work when they need it, especially when they’re sick. There must be no such policies that the employee has to give a doctor’s prescription as proof to get a day off for getting sick. This is sickening itself.
If something like this is happening in the company, then it clearly shows that the company doesn’t trust and respect the employee. But if the company pays respect to the employees, they will definitely work double hard for it.
-
Strict Attendance
When the attendance in the office is strict, it’s separate stress. The employees have to face it every day and it’s not limited to the time when we have to check-in at work.
The stress stays all day and all night because they know they have to get to work at exactly 11:00 am. This will definitely kill all the energy and productivity that a person will have.
Did you know that it’s actually a workplace rule that employees have to follow? It is, but it will do nothing but encourage the employees to leave the job and look for a better one that isn’t so harsh to people.
-
Limited Bathroom Breaks
This one is extremely barbaric. How can you stop your worker to use the facilities? You don’t even have an idea what’s going on in them. Maybe they’re sick? Or maybe they actually can’t control it and it’s an emergency?
You’re no one to put limits on this. Let them go to the bathroom whenever they want to just like you would whenever YOU want to. So, stop limiting your employees’ visits to the bathrooms or they will simply stop visiting your company. Tit for that!
-
Restricting the Use of Mobile Phones
Are you serious? No no no… you must be kidding me! You can’t strictly stop your employees to use their mobile phones when they’re working. How can you even do that?
Believe me, if you’re making this rule, then you’re gonna be the first one breaking it. It’s impossible to not use mobile phones while at work. Someone might have to get an emergency call from somewhere. How can you stop them from listening to it?
But if someone is constantly using their mobile phone and not working on the thing they’re being paid for, then you have the full right to point them out and ask them to put a limit to their usage.

Not Able to Argue in Front of the Boss
This is one of the worst workplace rules that a company would ever superimpose on the employees. Why are employees not able to argue with the boss of the company? Is it a problem with the boss’s ego or what?
The employees are professionals and they have the full right to argue with the boss if they find something not okay.
Let’s say that the boss has to make the decision between choosing either custom made boxes or general cardboard boxes for shipping from Dawn Printing.
The boss decides to buy custom made boxes from Dawn Printing but the employees know that buying cardboard boxes is good. But the employees can’t say anything to him because… you know the rule. Staying in such a place is as worst as hell.
Conclusion
Are you familiar with any of these weird workplace rules? Have you ever been in a company that encouraged any of these rules? If you still are in such a company, I’d suggest you find another job and then leave this one once your other job is confirmed.
It becomes very hard to breathe in such a workplace. And if you’re thinking of starting your own business and hire employees, then these are the rules that you don’t want to make in your company.
Else, you know, your worker will leave as soon as you wake up the next day. Best of luck, mate!
