American Airlines, the world’s largest airline in every aspect, is serving to approximately 350 destinations in more than 50 countries with a flight network of almost 6800 aircrafts. American Airlines Reservations services try its best to be convenient and uncomplicated but after all “To err is to human”. Here listed are some of the common mistakes we make while booking tickets which we should avoid.
1) Not clearing your cookies
Most websites pick up on your cookies as you surf the internet and add to your browser. Mostly these cookies are to select which ads to show to you based on your recent history, but it is said that users who have cookies from travel sites get a price higher than usual. This is called ‘dynamic pricing,’ i.e., the prices go up as the cookies present a higher demand to the website. So to avoid this unfair tactic, it is advised to clear the cookies. Also, it prevents the malwares from accessing your data.
2) Don’t forget about alternate airports.
There are cities across the globe which have more than one Aeroplan terminal. Sometimes it is better to check the booking details from all the airports as there are chances that you might get the desired flight at a lower price as a result of dynamic pricing of the one terminal while the other remains at usual. This tactic helps you save some of your money.
3) Forgetting to check Passport expiration.
Sometimes we ignore the fact that our passport might have been expired or is about to expire. According to the policies of some countries it is required for your passport to be valid for six months after your entry date. So check your passport before booking yourself an international flight, or you could get into some trouble at the last moment. If it has been expired or is about to, make sure you have enough time to validate your passport.
4) Booking the wrong airport.
I know those who travel have been in this situation before. It can put you in quite a hassle while ruining your plans by taking you to a destination you didn’t plan to visit. This generally happens when there is more than one destination with the same name. For instance; If you were supposed to travel to Birmingham, UK(BHX) but instead you got yourself a ticket to Birmingham, Alabama(BHM), it will land you in a city 6810 Kilometers away from your destination. So to save yourself from such a situation, make sure you have chosen the correct airport.
5) Hurrying to confirm
You are almost ready with your booking but before hitting on the ‘book now’ button, make sure you double-check all the personal information. Your name on the ticket must exactly match your name on your passport. Pay heed to spelling, numbered addresses, contact information your origin and destination and the travel class. If you, in a hurry, make any mistake while booking, there is nothing you could do. It will be a considerable loss. So it is advised to double-check every detailed you have filled out. If you intend to pay with American airlines evouchers make sure and have checked the box stating that you wish to pay with vouchers. Also, verify that voucher# and PIN# are correct.
Once You have booked your flight, check the confirmation mail you received from American airlines booking. Print out the necessary documents and keep them in a safe place. Keep an eye out for any changes in the reservation and your PNR status to make sure no changes have surfaced before your takeoff.
