10 Awesome Video Game Characters We Wish Were Real There’s no shortage of cool video game characters out there.
Heroes, villains, monsters, and supporting characters can all have fan followings, and there are so many we love it’d be almost impossible to choose just a handful of favorites.
But what about characters you’d want to meet in real life? Here are ten awesome video game characters we wish were real.
Sam Fisher
Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell series) When the free world is threatened, Sam Fisher is the combination of everyman and super-spy we all wish would sneak silently to the rescue.
This American secret agent is supremely skilled, able to infiltrate just about any building without killing anyone or getting caught. He’s also a gruff, likable dad-type, a middle-aged veteran operative whose handlers sometimes tease him about his aging bachelor ways just like Mesa prime build in Warframe.
But most importantly, he’s a righteous man who stands by his principles, even at great personal risk. Sam Fisher never acts dishonorably or bends the rules for his benefit, and for that, above all else, we wish he existed.
Epona
Epona (The Legend of Zelda series) Link’s famous horse never says a word, but she doesn’t have to: Epona is a force of nature. Just one simple tune on the Hero of Time’s trusty ocarina, and she’ll come running, ready to take her friend and master wherever he may need to go.
Epona is faithful, intelligent, and unstoppable in the field, carrying her rider to safety and performing daring jumps with ease. Since her introduction in The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time,
Nintendo has tried replacements, including The Wind Waker’s talking boat, the king of Red Dragons, but if we could choose one faithful, slightly mystical companion to aid us on our epic quests, we’d pick Epona in a heartbeat.
Samus Aran
Samus Aran (Metroid series) This interstellar bounty hunter is a one-woman army. She’s so powerful, skillful, and determined that an entire planet full of her enemies gets thrown into panic at the first sign of her coming.
Samus is a force for order and peace in the universe, using a suite of advanced alien technology to shield herself from enemy weapons, double-jump in the air, and even curl into a small, armored ball that can sneak through tight spaces no normal human could access.
We’d like nothing more than to meet her at a spaceport, buy her a drink, and say “thanks” for keeping all of us safe. This is one of the funny steam names that I have seen on twitch and YouTube gaming channels.
Thrall
Thrall (WarCraft series) The first leader of the Orcish race on Azeroth, this shrewd military strategist, and the monstrously powerful shaman is also a visionary chieftain his people, seeking peace with humanity and communion with the planet, despite being a stranger in a strange land.
Thrall is deeply connected to the earth and very spiritual; he trusts his instincts but often seems wise beyond his years. Over time, his role as a Horde leader has changed, and he’s no longer their Warchief – but he’ll always be ours. We’d love to meet him and learn from his insight and experience.
Amaterasu
Amaterasu (Okami series) Nothing makes a mythological Japanese sun goddess more likable than transforming her into a beautiful white wolf with mystic powers. Okami is an underappreciated classic, and Amaterasu herself is a big part of what makes the game so special: she moves with supernatural grace.
She defeats enemies with graceful combat and a few deft strokes of a mystic brush. This world can sometimes seem full of doom and gloom; when the going gets tough, we’d love to see Amaterasu out there, brightening things up and bringing some sunshine back into the world.
Yoshi
Yoshi (Super Mario series) He doesn’t say much, but Mario’s ever-faithful dinosaur companion is much more than just a ride. Yoshi is a true friend and an awesome character in his own right.
He can drive a go-kart, play tennis, eat just about anything, and even babysit. Best of all, he’s resilient; even when he falls, helping Mario get a leg up, it’s never long before he pops back up again, hungry and ready to go. If Yoshi were real, we’d never want to stop going on adventures with him.
Alyx Vance
Alyx Vance (Half-Life 2) Sure, there’s a lot to like about Dr. Gordon Freeman, the Half-Life series’s main protagonist. But if he were real, he’d probably be kind of dull: he never says a word!
That could get old pretty fast. For our money, we’d much rather meet his brave, resourceful, and much more talkative counterpart instead. Alyx Vance is handy with tools and deadly in a fight.
She has a vulnerable side, but she knows how to keep a stiff upper lip and stay motivated, no matter how tough things get. She’s also got a dry sense of humor that cracks us up. If Alyx existed, we’d be proud to say we knew her and honored to be her friend.
Lara Croft
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider series) This is a bit of a no-brainer. Who wouldn’t want to meet the most famous and recognizable female video game character ever created?
Lara has it all: money, smarts, skills, determination, and life of never-ending adventure and intrigue. Whether she’s learning the ropes of climbing, jumping, and surviving trap-filled ruins or playing it cool with a one-liner and a pair of deadly handguns, this expert tomb raider always manages to come out on top.
We’d love just to run across her in a dingy port bar somewhere and listen to her tell her amazing stories all night.
Master Chief
Master Chief (Halo series) When it comes to badass soldiers, there are plenty of video game examples, but they’re only one Master Chief.
Like some cyborg super-soldier mix of all the best, bravest, and most memorable big-screen tough-guy heroes, from Clint Eastwood’s “man with no name” to Sly Stallone’s unstoppable John Rambo, and even a bit of George C.
Scott’s stern, swaggering General Patton. Whether we’re facing down Covenant forces or just getting ready to deploy somewhere overseas, there’s no other video game character we’d rather have backing us up in the field.
Batman
Batman (Batman: Arkham series) When it’s time to clean up the streets, there’s only one video game character we know can get the job done with room to spare: Batman, the shadowy alter ego of billionaire Bruce Wayne.
The Dark Knight can single-handedly change the tone and tempo of a whole city just by being in it; criminals fear him, and civilians– though sometimes troubled by his use of force – generally like having him around.
He’s a genius detective and a master martial artist, and incorruptible. If we ever found ourselves surrounded by bad guys or on the run from a deadly criminal, there’s no one we’d rather have on our side, waiting in the shadows to turn the tables and save the day.
