    What is Passive Aggressive Behavior?

    Passive Aggressive Behavior is something quite annoying for all of us. People who show this behavior often feel negative about something but they do not speak about it rather they give indirect signals that they do not agree with something.

    Let’s take an Example – If in a meeting someone agrees to your point but later gives indirect signs that they do not agree is someone who has issues with being a passive-aggressive person.

    It can be a symptom of various mental disorders but generally, it does not fall into the category of someone dealing with a mental issue. Although these issues can create ample of problems in personal or professional life hence it shall not be taken for granted and requires attention.

    Signs of Passive Aggressive Behavior –

    Passive-aggressive behavior only occurs between two or more people. Dealing with Passive Aggressive Behavior is difficult. There is no clarity as to why someone is behaving the way they are. Most of the time such people do not consciously know that they are hurting someone with their Passive Aggressive Behavior.

    Some common signs that are noticed –

    • Constant criticism on a given topic
    • Always disagreeing with something
    • Forgetting things
    • Lack of action motivated more verbal
    • Pointing fingers at others
    • Do not try to understand

    These are some of the few signs but not limited to these. These people agree on the surface but do exactly the opposite of what is demanded.

    Why do they what they do?

    There is simply not one reason for their behavior instead there are multiple of them. We all deal with certain sets of emotion frequently like Happiness, angry, nervous, frustration but people with this quality often only show signs of disagreement rather than communicating directly

    These emotions are often shown by the children’s but they tend to grow with it as an adult. The main reason why they act in such a manner is to meet one of their needs.

    Experts claim that Passive Aggressive Behavior takes us towards feelings of Anxiety, Depression, or even personality disorder.

    How to identify this behavior?

    Most of us cannot detect this behavior but a trained mental health professional can easily understand this.

    These doctors ask you questions and try and understand your thought pattern to diagnose this issue. If someone feels the need of seeing the doctor, they should definitely do it.

    The trigger is something we need to find and try and work on it. The trigger can be environmental, past related, or simply disagreeing to a point. If any of these occur frequently it is recommended to see a mental health expert avoid getting in trouble with the relationship.
