The previous week, I was enjoying the weekend when my wife came blabbering and fussing about a renowned mobile application. I asked the reason where she stated some points that I couldn’t ignore. After assessing those points, I concluded that a particular application needs periodic changes to sustain in the market. Else, the grave to install is ready where umpteen apps go into.

There are different reasons behind all those applications that go unnoticed or have scanty ratings. The prime baddie for every mobile application is its lethargic UX. You’d be surprised to know that in December 2019, there were around 63 billion applications combined that were uninstalled from the iOS store and Google Play Store. After seeing these statistics, I felt bad for all those mobile application developers that failed. But, I’m an optimistic soul and always see on the other side. Failure taught’em a lot of things that were missed learning from scratch.

Undoubtedly, mobile applications have been an indispensable tool for the growth of a business, regardless of its scale. When your application serves the purpose, it is a win-win situation every time. But when it fails miserably, you need to check the WHY behind it. As you’ll peruse ahead, you will come across the top 7 reasons that help in ruining a mobile app UX. Check out those if you suspect them in the app design.

    1. Never Test a User’s Patience

Not everyone is endowed with a lion’s patience, especially a user that’s using an application. If an application takes too long to load, it will definitely be uninstalled soon by the user. When the loading time increases, the bounce rate also increases. When these two increase together, the conversion rate decreases. Some exceptionally slow apps have bounce rates at an alarming level. To make the mobile application better, choose the images that aren’t heavy. Although HD photos bring thumbs up, they make the generic webpage heavier than usual. Hence, use compressed imagery for the easy loading of the application.

    1. The App is Too Perplexing

Sometimes, a mobile application developer in India, usually amateur, makes the app perplexing by incorporating unwanted features. Although the intention remains to provide the utmost quality features, they make the app weak. If a mobile app developer does this just to make an application standout, he/she is making a grave mistake. When a mobile application is minimalistic, it juices more conversions as compared to an over-embellished website. To provide aesthetics, keep the website simple to get more conversions.

    1. “I Can’t Find It”

Discussing technology advancements, on the first date, would be the biggest turn-off for your partner. The same happens when you try to keep an amateur unconventional application design. Since most of the shopping is now done offline, it is expected that by the first quarter of 2021, the revenue would cross the 150 billion USD mark. You definitely want to earn a profit, don’t you? That’s the reason why the app shouldn’t be perplexing and including a convenient search option, is a must. If the navigation is poor, the user will uninstall the application.

    1. Restraining The Closer Look

Another grave mistake that affects the UX is to refrain the user from getting a closer look at the images. For every online business, it is essential to provide a clear and closer look to a product’s image. Limiting it would not only upset people but make the app look shady. This is another crooked reason due to which your app conversion rate would depreciate. Thus, allow the feature to zoom-in the imagery so that the user doesn’t get suspicious of the app and all items up for sale.

    1. Overseeing Beta-Testing

You’re digging the pit for the mobile application yourself by not doing its beta test. C’mon, you just cannot overlook a mandatory phase before rolling the application in the commercial market! Beta-testing helps a designer to determine possible loopholes and fix them easily without commencing from the scratch. It may be a bit time-consuming, but as per the phrase, “the most beautiful view is seen after the hardest climb”, things become worth every second.

    1. Lack of App Goals

You cannot carve a chiseled physique by cheating on your workout & diet because they are the goals. Similarly, a mobile application without goals is nothing beyond irrelevant. If you fail to convey the app goals, it cannot succeed in the market. Even well-structured apps face the same fate because they lack goals. Thus, always understand the target audience while crafting the app UX along with its goals. For example, an online food-ordering application might be perplexing for the senior-citizen age group, but using the same app would be a cakewalk for all youngsters.

    1. Poor Color Scheme

What else can be done to ruin a mobile application’s UI and UX at the same time? When a mobile application developer tries to blindly follow the color scheme in trend, he/she would end up having a bad experience. Just like the same marketing campaign doesn’t work for 2 different companies, similarly not every popular color scheme would uplift the mobile app! Experimenting with the color scheme is fine but first, a mobile app developer should understand the type of app that would be conceived and the target audience it would serve. This strategy would resolve 55% of the tension.

    Mic-Drop!

Honestly, I admit that designing a mobile application is a catch 22 but ruining it is a cakewalk. Mobile application developers should be considerate while breathing life into an application by following all tips that I shared above. A thorough inspection of the mobile application at different stages would help in carving an aesthetically charming mobile application. By avoiding the pitfalls, you can easily accomplish the milestone and provide an amazing experience to users that install & use the application. What now? You’ve spotted the loophole, so go and fix it. Good luck.
