As explained in one of our  blog post “The In-Depth Assessment of The Health Benefits of Omega-3 Fish Oil” when it comes to fish oil people have hundreds of unanswered questions. While some of them are linked with the uncertain claims that revolve around the supplement, others are regarding the questions regarding the components that are used to create Omega-3 fish oil supplements. Although some questions were answered in the last blog post, others remained silent. Well, as promised we have come up with this blog post to answer the remaining assessment questions. So, without any further delay let’s start with the assessment of fish oil with our experts.

FAQs: what do you need to learn about omega-3 fish oil?

Here are some of the vital questions that need to be answered before you expose yourself to the omega-3 fish oil supplement.

Question- can I put the fish oil supplement in the fridge to protect its freshness?

It is common for people to store the supplements and nutrients in the cold place to maintain the freshness and avoid side effects like fishy burps. As far as the storage is concerned many manufacturers list down the storage guidelines on the product label such as “store it in a cool and dry place”. Refrigerating the supplement can be good for one and but not fine for others so, it is recommended to strictly follow the storage guidelines.

Question- I heard through a show that chia seeds, hemp seeds, and flax seeds also provide Omega-3 fatty acids and need to be ground to retrieve the nutrients, Is it true?

Yes, flax seeds, chia seeds, and hemp seeds are the rich sources of the omega-3 fatty acids if consumed as a whole. Flaxseeds in particular is an effective laxative that can benefit you if associated with the daily diet. The shell of the flaxseeds is composed of lignans that become gels in the presence of the water. This is not the effect you are looking for as ALA- the omega-3 fatty acids consumed from the seeds are so low and most of the portion get digest through the process. Hence, omega-3 fish oil is an effective way to get Omega-3 fatty acids including EPA and DHA.

Question-If I take omega-3 fish oil supplements and eat organic food rich in EPA and DHA, do we need to be worried about too much DHA?

We understand you are worried about your health and toxification which is common if you take more nutrients than necessary. However, the amount of DHA you will receive through your diet will be low until or unless you are eating fish and cannot become toxic with omega-3 fatty acids consumed through supplements. Hence you don’t need to worry about consuming too much DHA through your diet and omega-3 fish oil pills.

Question-do children get more benefits from fish oil than adults? What do you think?

There was a paper published in 2005 from the EPIC-elderly prospective cohort study where 75000 men and women above the age of 60 participated. Through the studies, the participants were asked to stick with the Mediterranean diet which is rich with organic and seafood. Through their studies, they found that the Mediterranean diet can actually increase the mortality rate by reducing risk factors like cardiovascular disease, and chronic inflammation.

Talking about the kids they need DHA- an omega-3 fatty acid for the growth and neuroplasticity in the brain. Children’s brains are in the constant state of development until they reach the age of maturity. So, it is true that DHA can benefit children by contributing to their development and growth.

In total the omega-3 fish oil supplement is beneficial not only for your health but also for the health of your loved one.
